Family Mediation

What is Family Mediation?

Family Mediation is a client centered approach where you are the experts on the content and I am the expert on the process. I help you run an efficient and safe meeting so that you can quickly and collaboratively resolve the issues.

Who is it for?

Family Mediation is for anyone in a family who is stuck. Typically people think mediation is a tool for those who are getting divorced, when in fact, mediation can be used to resolve all kinds of issues. For example, conflicts between parents, siblings, parent/teen, and many more.

My Approach

  • Individual and confidential consultation with all parties involved

  • Joint session(s)

  • Written Memorandum of Understanding

For separation mediation you will have the opportunity for me to arrange your Separation Agreement to be drafted by a lawyer. If this interests you please inquire for further details.

How long will mediation take?

Consultations take between fifteen and thirty minutes and are done over the phone.

Joint sessions are booked for two to three hour sessions, and most issues can be resolved within one to three sessions. These times can be flexible to accommodate your scheduling needs.

How much will it cost?

My fees range from $200 per hour to $250 per hour depending on complexity. Disbursements may also be included in the final bill. These are any costs to me that I incur while working on your mediation file. This can include travel costs, meeting space rental, and long distance phone calls.

What is a Memorandum of Understanding and how is it different from a Separation Agreement?

A Memorandum of Understanding is a document which outlines all decisions made in the mediation. Its intention is to assist in the drafting of a Separation Agreement. A Separation Agreement is a legal document which I am unable to draft. Using a Memorandum of Understanding to assist the drafting of a Separation Agreement should make it more cost effective.
